About us
We're engineering data infrastructure to power the clean energy economy.
GHG levels are rising and so is the demand for energy. After we served global sustainability and energy teams with ad-hoc software tools (see here, here, and here), we realized that accurate and reliable utility data collection blocked almost every organization from taking effective action against climate change.
At a high level, experts agree that solving climate change requires five ingredients: we need to to 1. electrify everything, 2. decarbonize the grid, 3. clean up industrials, 4. fix our food system, and 5. protect nature (Speed and Scale, John Doerr).
When we considered problems #1 and #2 on the list, we discovered that even though cleaner energy sources have helped disrupt energy generation (and thus lowered prices) in recent years, not many companies are well-positioned to benefit from this change.
The core challenge is this: most companies barely understand their own energy usage enough to start optimizing. Since prices fluctuate rapidly (sometimes every 15 minutes), without good quality data there's little hope in finding the best rates and taking advantage of cleaner energy.
That’s where Nectar comes in. Our first product is a utility intelligence platform that helps teams collect data across their entire organization automatically. We're starting with helping energy managers and sustainability teams access high-fidelity data at scale.
Our team
We're a group of engineers and business leaders who have built iconic products, data pipelines, and technological infrastructure at companies including Scale AI, Amazon, Two Sigma, and Google. We've previously taught university courses, organized hackathons, infiltrated MIT's email servers, starred on TV shows, and built state-of-the-art AI applications.
We're constantly challenging the status quo and inventing what is possible at the intersection of technology and impact; and we're fortunate to be building in a time of rapid advancements in intelligence.
If you love difficult problems and you want to apply engineering to solve one of the greatest challenges of our lifetime, we'd love to hear from you at team@nectarclimate.com.
