- Bill with an open issue — Bills with unresolved data quality issues don’t count toward analytics, even though their values still appear on the bill and meter rows (marked with an amber warning triangle). Resolving the issue adds the usage back, which can cause a sudden jump.
- Duplicate meter not marked — If two meters track the same physical device, usage is double-counted until one is marked as duplicate.
- Superseded usage — Usage rows linked as revisions are excluded from usage and emissions totals. Historical site cost allocation can still retain those rows.
- Meter assigned to the wrong site — Usage appears on the wrong site’s charts. Check the meter’s site assignment in meter detail.
- Meter not tracked — An untracked meter doesn’t count toward analytics totals, though its own rows still show usage and cost. If it should be tracked, update its tracking status from the account detail page.
- Missing bill — A gap in collection (connection error, late utility posting) creates a zero-usage month. Check Data Completeness for coverage gaps.
- Unit conversion — If a bill arrives in different units than previous bills (e.g., MWh vs kWh), the converted value may look unexpected. See Units and conversions.
- Calendarization effect — A bill spanning two months is prorated across them. Short or long billing periods can create apparent spikes or dips at the boundary.
