Nothing is pushed to Metrio during setup — you decide when your data is ready to sync. Each API push stores Metrio’s import report for per-sync verification. To compare against the full collection table (including rows other people edited in Metrio), connect the Metrio metric that mirrors each datasource.
Setup wizard
The setup wizard at Data Export > Integrations > Metrio > Set up Metrio has three steps:- Credentials — Your Metrio account prefix (for example
yourcompanyfor yourcompany.metrio.net) and API key. One key covers all datasources; ask your Metrio administrator for a key with access to the Datasources API, and to the Data Access API if you connect metrics. - Datasources — The datasource key for each utility type you push (electricity, gas and fuel, water, waste), and optionally the key of the Metrio metric that mirrors that datasource. Leave a datasource field blank to skip that utility. Every key is verified against the live Metrio API before the wizard continues — a failed check tells you whether the API key was rejected, the datasource key was not found, or the metric is missing or does not mirror the datasource.
- Facility mapping — The Metrio facility identifier for each site (the value written to the datasource’s “offices” column). Rows are prefilled from each site’s external ID, and you can exclude sites you don’t want to push.
Integration hub
Navigate to Data Export > Integrations > Metrio for the main integration page. It is a single-page layout (not tabbed): status and history at the top, then plants compared live against Metrio, then per-sync verification once fully configured.Page header
- Archive — Deactivates the integration and hides it from navigation. Export history and data already in Metrio are not deleted.
- Settings — Opens Settings > Company > Integrations > Metrio for credentials, datasources, facility mapping, and waste stream labels.
Warning banners
- Legacy config (push only) — Older companies may still use metadata-only credentials. Push still works, but verification, facility mapping, and read-back comparison require completing the setup wizard.
- Unmapped sites — Sites without a Metrio facility identifier (and not explicitly excluded) are skipped during export. The banner links to facility mapping in settings.
Status card
Shows whether Metrio is Connected, Not configured, or Legacy config (push only). The primary Export button opens the export dialog. The card explains that Metrio requires a separate export per utility type and that Nectar stores Metrio’s import report after each API push.Recent syncs & downloads
Lists your latest Metrio exports and API pushes. Click a row to open the export detail sheet — configuration, download link (if applicable), and (for API pushes) the Metrio import report. Use All history or Data Export > History for the full cross-integration log.Live Metrio status and facilities
Metrio values are read live from the metric connected to each datasource every time the page loads — there is no cached copy. Live from Metrio confirms the read succeeded. A datasource without a metric shows No Metrio metric connected for this datasource and no Metrio data; if Metrio cannot be reached or the comparison cannot be computed, an error is shown instead of old values. Metrio can take a few minutes to reflect a push, so a month you just synced may briefly show as missing or different. The Facilities table lists Metrio plants (the offices key), the Nectar sites mapped to each plant, and the number of mismatched months over the last 12 months. Click a row to open that plant. The mismatch count links to discrepancies.Sync verification — find and resolve discrepancies on one push
After setup (non-legacy companies only), the Compare previous Metrio exports with Nectar section is where you confirm Metrio holds the right numbers and fix the ones it does not. It verifies one push at a time. How to use it:- Pick a sync — Use the required Sync picker (labels show date, utility type, and export name). The most recent sync is selected by default; every clear resets to it.
- Read the summary line — The card description tallies the outcome: how many rows are synced, drifted, not on Metrio, missing in Nectar, and rejected, plus the sync date and range.
- Filter to what needs attention — Use the Status filter (multi-select) to isolate, for example, only Drifted and Rejected rows, and the Facility filter to focus on one site.
- Inspect each row — For the selected sync, Nectar compares every row Metrio accepted against what the same export scope would produce today, per facility, month, and unit. Values use the exact units that were pushed, so the diff reflects real data changes, not unit conversion.
Statuses:
- Synced — The value Metrio holds still matches your data. No action needed.
- Drifted — Your data changed since the push (for example, bills were revised after the sync). Resolve with Sync.
- Not on Metrio — Today’s export would include a row this sync never pushed. Resolve with Push.
- Missing in Nectar — Metrio accepted a value your data no longer produces. Investigate in Data Inventory; Metrio keeps the old value until you re-push a correction.
- Rejected — Metrio refused the row at import time. Hover the badge for Metrio’s reason, correct the underlying data, then Push.
- Superseded — A newer sync already re-covered this row; Metrio’s current value comes from that later push, so you can usually ignore it.
- Per row — Click Push (for Not on Metrio / Rejected) or Sync (for Drifted) to re-export just that facility, month, and utility. A confirmation dialog states that existing Metrio values for that facility and month are overwritten.
- In bulk — Click Re-push N rows in the card header to re-export every actionable row (drifted, not on Metrio, or rejected) in the current filter scope as a single sync. Narrow the filters first to control exactly what gets re-pushed.
Facility page
Open a plant from the hub facilities table. This is Nectar vs the live Metrio metric for one Metrio plant. Several Nectar sites can share one plant; the page shows all of them and the summed usage Nectar would push.- Filter by utility type, series / unit (when the plant has more than one, such as energy types or water sources), and month range (defaults to the last 12 months).
- The chart and monthly table compare Nectar to Metrio. Statuses: Synced, Diff, Not on Metrio, and Metrio only. When the utility has no connected metric, or Metrio cannot be reached, the table shows that message instead of values.
- Push to Metrio in the header re-exports the filtered range for every mapped site. Sync / Push on a row re-exports only that month. A confirmation dialog states that existing Metrio values for that plant and month are overwritten. There is no bulk Sync selected on this table — use discrepancies to re-export several plants at once.
Discrepancies table
Open Data Export > Integrations > Metrio > Discrepancies for a company-wide list of months where Metrio differs from Nectar, read live from Metrio. By default the table shows Diff (Metrio holds a different value) and Not on Metrio (Nectar has data Metrio does not). Turn on Synced or Metrio only in the status filter when you need them. Metrio only rows have no Nectar value to push, so they are not selectable for Sync. Filter by plant, month range, status, and utility type. Sync on a row or Sync selected re-exports those facility-months with the same overwrite confirm as a targeted resync. If no datasource has a connected metric, the page prompts you to connect one in settings.Export dialog and standalone export
Click Export on the hub, or open the standalone export page. Both use the same form:
A progress dialog runs during the export; a success dialog confirms when it completes.
Import report
When an export uploads to Metrio, Nectar waits for the import to finish and stores Metrio’s full import report. Open any API push from the recent history card (or from Export History) to see per-row verdicts — Accepted, Rejected, or Merged — with each row’s facility, month, and value. If an import is still processing, Nectar pulls the report automatically as soon as it finishes. The import report shows what Metrio did at import time; per-sync verification shows whether that push still matches Nectar today; the facility page and discrepancies table show what is in the collection table right now, read live from Metrio. Use the report to diagnose a failed push, per-sync verification to catch drift after a specific export, and discrepancies to rectify the table as a whole.Settings
Manage the integration in Settings > Company > Integrations > Metrio:- Connection — Metrio account, masked API key, import mode, and last sync result. Edit re-verifies every datasource and metric key against Metrio before saving, so invalid keys never reach your configuration.
- Datasources — Upload target per utility type, with live row count and last input date from Metrio at verification, plus the connected metric (or No Metrio metric connected for this datasource). Clear a metric key to disconnect it.
- Facility mapping — Each Nectar site mapped to its Metrio facility identifier, with exclusions.
- Waste streams — A Metrio label for each waste stream. The label is free text (for example,
Landfill Waste (lb)). Leave a stream blank and Nectar does not send it. - Archive — Same as Archive on the integration hub.

FAQ
How does Nectar map sites to Metrio facilities?
How does Nectar map sites to Metrio facilities?
Through the facility mapping in integration settings. Each Nectar site maps to a Metrio facility identifier — the value written to the datasource’s “offices” column. The mapping is prefilled from each site’s external ID during setup, and sites can be excluded from pushes.
Where do I get datasource keys?
Where do I get datasource keys?
Datasource keys identify the Metrio datasources that receive your data (one per utility type). They are provided by Metrio and are specific to your account — contact your Metrio administrator, or support@nectarclimate.com for help configuring them.
What does Nectar read back from Metrio?
What does Nectar read back from Metrio?
Two things. After each API push, Nectar stores Metrio’s import report — the record of every row that push accepted, rejected, or merged. That powers per-sync verification. Separately, for each datasource with a connected metric, Nectar reads the whole collection table live from Metrio (including rows edited by someone else) every time you open the hub, a facility page, or discrepancies. Nothing is cached.
What is a Metrio plant versus a Nectar site?
What is a Metrio plant versus a Nectar site?
A Metrio plant is the facility identifier written to the datasource’s “offices” column. Several Nectar sites can map to one plant; Nectar sums their usage into a single Metrio row. Facility pages and the discrepancies table are organized by plant.
What is the difference between Push and Sync?
What is the difference between Push and Sync?
Push sends data that Metrio does not have yet (Not on Metrio) or that Metrio rejected. Sync overwrites data that Metrio already holds but that no longer matches Nectar (Diff). Bulk Re-push / Sync selected handles every actionable row in the current view.
How do I fix a drifted row?
How do I fix a drifted row?
Use Sync on the row (on per-sync verification, the facility page, or discrepancies) to re-push that plant and month, or Sync selected / Re-push for several rows. With the default Replace duplicates import mode, the re-push overwrites the old values in Metrio cleanly.
Why is sync verification empty?
Why is sync verification empty?
Run at least one export with Upload to Metrio enabled. Legacy push-only configurations must complete the setup wizard first. Per-sync verification appears only for API pushes that stored an import report. The facility and discrepancies pages need a connected metric per datasource to compare against the rest of the table.
Why does a page say no Metrio metric is connected?
Why does a page say no Metrio metric is connected?
Nectar reads Metrio values through a metric that mirrors each datasource. Ask your Metrio administrator for the metric key, then add it next to the datasource key in Settings > Company > Integrations > Metrio. Until then, no Metrio values are shown for that utility.
How do waste streams get their Metrio labels?
How do waste streams get their Metrio labels?
In Settings > Company > Integrations > Metrio, enter the Metrio metric label for each waste stream. Labels are free text, and streams can share a label. A blank label means that stream is not sent. If none of the waste usage in a sync has a label, the sync fails and says which streams need one.
Why does a month I just synced show as different or missing?
Why does a month I just synced show as different or missing?
Metrio can take a few minutes to reflect a push in the metric. Reload the page after a short wait; the values update on their own.
