Navigate to Data Quality > Issues and Anomalies > Triage to open the triage inbox — a dedicated workspace for reviewing and resolving data quality issues on your bills and meters. When anomaly detection is on, anomalies appear in this same list (see Anomalies).

Triage inbox

Use the Display toggle for Individual (default) or Grouped. The Individual view uses a split-pane layout:
  • Left panel — A scrollable list of findings (issues and, when Kind includes them, anomalies) on bills or meters. Status defaults to Open. Each row shows key identifiers, site, and a primary Issue Type badge. Select a row to expand family, headline, and occurrence count.
  • Right panel — When you select a record, the right panel fills with the full-pane bill document preview (or, for issues about a meter, a meter context view that flips through the bills observed on that meter). A collapsible context rail on the right edge shows what the system found, the verdict, a purple Suggested action card when one applies, and supporting evidence. The detail header shows a severity dot, the issue label, and Resolution options — there is no footer dock.
For Duplicates, the right pane is a side-by-side document comparison instead of a single bill preview. When you’re elsewhere in the platform (a bill page, a meter page) and an issue applies, an inline alert with a View action opens the same investigation in an Issue sheet — the same content as the right pane, in a slide-over. If several issues are open, View opens a picker first. Resolve from Resolution Options in the sheet header. On eligible issues, Investigate with agent opens Agent with that finding already in context. See Agent.

Spotting issues on a row

You don’t have to open the triage inbox to see which records have issues. Anywhere bills, usage rows, or meters are listed, a row with an open issue shows an amber warning triangle in its actions column. Hover it to see what the issues are; click it to open the investigation. If the row has more than one open issue, clicking gives you a short list to pick from. The triangle tells you something on this row may be wrong. To see which part, look for a dotted amber underline under the value the issue is about — the usage amount, the billing period, the bill date, or the site or account the record is attached to. Click the underlined value to open that specific issue. An issue that isn’t about any single value underlines nothing and shows only the triangle.
The amber triangle is not the same as the flag you set by hand. Flags use a flag icon and mean “I want to come back to this”; the triangle means Nectar detected a problem.
Values on a flagged row are still shown. Nectar does not blank out a number because it is uncertain — it shows the number and marks it. What changes is whether that number is counted in analytics; see below.

Filtering

Use the filter bar at the top to narrow the list (while you have rows checked, a selection bar replaces the filter bar):
  • Status — Toggle between Open (default), Resolved, or All
  • KindIssues or Anomalies
  • Type — Filter by Issue Type family (Other, Low confidence fields, Bill quality, Duplicates, Meter issues, Account match) or, in Individual view, by anomaly type (Usage anomaly, Cost anomaly, Unit price anomaly, Interest charges, Bills after site archived). Grouped view uses Issue Types only.
  • Site, Connection, Utility Providers, Bill date, Created date, and more — add from the + Add filter menu
Grouped view only applies the Type filter for the rollup.

Issue types

Nectar automatically detects these issue details during bill and meter processing. The inbox Type filter uses the six families above; the tables below are the detail types. Issues are organized into two flag levels. Flag level is UI tone only — it does not decide whether analytics withhold a bill (see When is data excluded?).

Action required

These issues need resolution before the data can be trusted. If the issue is on a bill, that bill is withheld from analytics until resolved. Documents rejected as non-utility at upload never become an Issues inbox type — that status lives on the upload, not here.

Review and verify

These issues flag inferred or low-confidence values you should verify. Low Confidence Date and Low Confidence Units still withhold the bill. Site and address issues are meter-anchored and do not withhold.

Meter issues

These issues are about a meter rather than a bill. They surface when a meter’s location can’t be matched confidently (Low confidence site match or Address mismatch). Container size lives under Low confidence fields, not this family.

When is data excluded?

Exclusion is about totals, not about what you can see. A bill with an open issue still shows its usage, dates, and allocated cost everywhere you’d normally find them. What’s withheld is its contribution to charts, dashboards, and default exports. Whether that contribution is withheld depends on what the issue is about — not on its “Action required” / “Review and verify” label.
  • Issues about a bill (for example, a potential duplicate or an unmatched account) withhold that bill’s usage and cost from analytics dashboards and exports until the issue is resolved.
  • Issues about a meter (for example, a low-confidence site match, address mismatch, or low confidence container size) don’t withhold anything.
Data completeness always counts a bill as received, even when it has an open issue. A month can therefore show as complete in Data Completeness while its usage is withheld from analytics — resolve the issue to include it in analytics.
When you open an analytics view (site, account, meter, or portfolio) where bills are withheld, a banner tells you how many bills are affected. Use Review bills to open the inbox filtered to those issues, or Why? to jump to this section.

Resolving issues

Select a record in the left panel to open the investigation in the right panel. The detail header shows a severity dot (red for action-required, amber for review-and-verify), the issue label, and Resolution options driven by that issue’s config:
  • Duplicates — The pane is the side-by-side comparison. Resolve options confirm, dismiss, mark a revision, or delete one of the bills — there is no separate Compare action.
  • Assign to an account — Match an unmatched bill to the correct account (CTA Assign account).
  • Reassign site — Move a meter to the correct site (low confidence site match / address mismatch). In Individual bulk, the location action is labeled Assign site… (N).
  • Edit dates / Edit usage units / Verify container details / Edit address — Open a focused editor for that field (address edit is for Address mismatch).
  • Suggested action — When the context rail shows a purple Suggested action card, click it to open the matching resolve step (sometimes prefilled). The card is omitted when there is nothing to apply.
  • Dismiss (label varies by type) — Mark the issue as resolved with an optional note. The menu wording is type-specific (for example Not a duplicate or Confirm — site is correct).
  • Delete this bill / Delete the other bill — Permanently remove a bill that should not be in your portfolio.
  • Contact support — Send the issue to the Nectar team for further investigation (support@nectarclimate.com).
After resolving all issues on a record, the triage inbox automatically advances to the next record with open issues.

Bulk resolution

To resolve the same issue type across multiple records at once:
1

Select records

Use the checkboxes in the left list to select one or more records of the same Kind (issues or anomalies). A mixed selection disables Bulk actions.
2

Choose action

The filter toolbar becomes an N selected bar. Click Bulk actions and choose Begin resolving {type}… (N), Assign site… (N) when meters have location issues, or Export… (N) for an XLSX of the selection. In Grouped view, check constituent rows, then use Resolve selected (and Reassign site, Assign account, or Delete bills when shown).
3

Confirm

Review the summary of affected records and issues. Add an optional resolution note, then confirm. Assign site uses a site picker (and address checkboxes) rather than a resolve-note dialog.

Grouped triage and Overview

In addition to the per-record Individual view, the Issues module exposes two complementary surfaces for spotting patterns:
  • Grouped triage — Switch Display to Grouped. Set a Type filter so the rollup stays focused. Meter issues roll up by site; every other Issue Type rolls up by utility provider. The left list shows groups; the right pane lists constituent issues and verdicts. Check rows, then Resolve selected (or the type-specific header action when shown).
  • Overview — Open Data Quality > Issues and Anomalies > Overview for portfolio stats: Open issues, Resolved, Open anomalies, and Total anomaly impact, plus issue-type and anomaly-type lists that deep-link into Triage.

What happens when issues are resolved?

  • The amber triangle and the dotted underlines disappear from the record’s rows
  • If it was an issue tied to a bill, that bill’s usage and cost are included in analytics dashboards and exports again
  • Who resolved it, when, and any notes are stored on the issue (visible on the resolved row and in the Resolution summary)
