Rate Schedules & Tariff Analysis

Baldwin EMC C&I bills are driven by three levers: a fixed monthly customer charge, an energy charge per kWh, and (for demand-metered accounts) a demand charge keyed to the highest 15-minute average kW in the month. Because the cooperative purchases all power wholesale and passes those costs through, energy charges track wholesale power costs. The cooperative does not publish C&I dollar figures online, so analysis should start from the member's actual commercial tariff sheet and SmartHub interval data.

Baldwin EMC Rate Schedule List

Large Power / IndustrialLarge C&I members; energy + demand + wholesale power-cost pass-through.

Baldwin EMC Rate Features & TOU Details

  • Demand billed on highest 15-minute average kW per month
  • Demand meter resets each billing cycle
  • Energy charge reflects wholesale power-cost pass-through
  • Board-set rates; 2026 adjustment effective March 1, 2026
  • 15-minute interval data available via SmartHub to support load analysis

Baldwin EMC Data Access FAQ

How does a commercial member pull interval data from Baldwin EMC?

Log in to SmartHub, open My Usage, and use Green Button Download My Data to export 15-minute interval data as XML (ZIP). Up to 14 months of history is available. This is the recommended way to share data with an energy consultant or analytics platform.

Does Baldwin EMC offer a third-party API or Share My Data program?

No formal third-party developer API, OAuth authorization, or approved-vendor marketplace is published. NISC SmartHub can technically support Green Button Connect My Data (ESPI), but Baldwin EMC does not advertise an active CMD program. The practical path is customer-downloaded Green Button files; contact Business Services to inquire about automated options.

How are demand charges calculated for C&I accounts?

Baldwin EMC monitors demand over rolling 15-minute periods and bills the highest 15-minute average kW recorded during the billing month. The meter resets to zero after each monthly read. Reducing simultaneous equipment operation lowers peak demand and the associated charge.

Can a C&I member shop for a competitive electricity supplier?

No. Alabama is a fully regulated market with no retail choice, and Baldwin EMC is a member-owned cooperative. It is the sole provider in its territory, so commercial and industrial members purchase electricity directly from the cooperative at board-approved rates.

Does Baldwin EMC support EDI for commercial customers?

There is no published EDI trading-partner program for external parties. EDI likely exists internally through NISC systems, but commercial members needing EDI should contact Business Services at (251) 989-6247 to discuss feasibility; Green Button XML is the practical data-exchange alternative.
