Procurement Advisory
In deregulated markets, the supply portion of an electricity or natural gas bill is negotiable. Nectar benchmarks your supply contracts, validates the contracted rate on every bill, tracks renewals, and sources competing offers through licensed procurement partners. Nectar is not a broker or supplier.

In a deregulated market the supply portion of an electricity or natural gas bill is a contract, and the delivery portion is still the utility’s. Teams that only watch the total cannot tell whether a high month came from usage, from a demand peak, or from a supply price that rolled onto a holdover rate. Nectar splits those charges on every bill and keeps the contracted rate next to the invoice.
Nectar is not a broker and not a supplier. Benchmarks, renewal tracking, and bill validation are done in the platform. Competing offers for electricity, natural gas, and renewables are sourced through licensed partners. Any compensation those partners receive is disclosed in writing before you sign, and the contract is between you and the supplier. The platform keeps the benchmark, the signed terms, and the later invoices on the same accounts, so a renewal conversation starts from the bills rather than from a broker’s workbook.
Challenge
Supply contracts are signed without a clear benchmark.
Solution
Nectar compares your contracted rates, terms, and product structure against current market offers and your actual usage profile, and presents the options with their assumptions.
Challenge
Contracted supply rates are not checked against invoices.
Solution
The contracted rate is validated on every supplier bill, and renewals are tracked with notice at least 180 days before expiry so contracts never roll onto holdover rates.
Challenge
Broker compensation is often hidden in the supply price.
Solution
Offers for electricity, natural gas, and renewables are sourced through licensed partners, any supplier compensation is disclosed in writing before you sign, and each contract is directly between you and the supplier.
The contract checked against the invoice
Each supplier bill is checked against the rate, term, and product structure on the contract. A month that does not match is visible as a line-item variance, with the bill attached, rather than as a total that finance has to reverse-engineer.
Renewals are tracked with notice at least 180 days before expiry. The notice is early enough to request offers and compare them with your actual usage profile, instead of accepting a holdover rate because the expiration was buried in a PDF.
Offers compared on your load, not a generic quote
A benchmark uses the account’s usage, demand, and the contract you already have. Options are presented with their assumptions: term, product structure, and what was held constant. A lower unit price that ignores demand or a swing band is not treated as the better deal.
Once a contract is in place, the same accounts stay in bill pay, auditing, and reporting. Procurement does not create a second set of usage numbers for sustainability or for accounts payable.

Carbon accounting requires accurate utility data collection
Carbon accounting has 3 steps: data collection, emissions calculation, and data reporting. Error rates of 10% in data collection compound into worse error in the CDP report. Garbage in, garbage out.
