Dcycle is a Madrid-based ESG data platform built for European disclosure. It maps operational non-financial data to ESRS datapoints, aligns to the EU Taxonomy, supports decarbonization planning, and produces XBRL-ready output, all on a knowledge graph of company data. It reports more than 2,000 customers across ten or more countries and raised a $7.34M Series A led by Samaipata in December 2024.

Dcycle is also the clearest example in this market of a vendor running the same SEO play Nectar runs. It publishes live comparison posts targeting alternatives to Watershed and Measurabl, ranking itself first ahead of Enertiv, Deepki, Yardi, Conservice, IBM Envizi, and Plan A. That is a company competing deliberately for the same buyer attention.

The two products are not substitutes, though. Dcycle sits above Nectar in the stack. It formats and maps data for disclosure; it relies on integrations or manual input for the raw utility data underneath. Nectar operates that layer: direct connection to more than 7,000 utility providers, line-item parsing of demand, supply, delivery, taxes, and fees, and an audit trail from every reported value back to the bill image.

Two layers, not two options

CSRD assurance is where the layering becomes concrete. Limited assurance requires an auditor to satisfy themselves that reported figures trace to underlying records. A disclosure platform can format a number beautifully and still leave you unable to show where it came from, because the platform never touched the source document.

Nectar holds that provenance by construction. The bill image, the parsed line items, the meter identifiers, and the period all travel together, so when an assurance provider asks for the evidence behind a Scope 2 figure the answer is a link rather than a search. Feeding a platform like Dcycle from that base gives you the EU-native disclosure surface and the defensible inputs at the same time.

If you are evaluating both, the practical question is which gap you actually have. If your ESRS mapping is the problem, Dcycle addresses it and Nectar does not. If your inputs are incomplete or unverifiable, no amount of datapoint mapping fixes that.

Where Dcycle is stronger, and it is not close

Native ESRS datapoint mapping with XBRL-ready output, EU Taxonomy alignment, Spanish EINF compliance, and a multilingual European product are all things Dcycle does and Nectar does not. If your requirement is a CSRD submission that a European auditor will accept, Dcycle is built for that specific job and Nectar is not a substitute for it.

Nectar’s European story is about the data layer: coverage of European utility providers as part of global coverage, multi-currency and multi-unit handling, and parsing that copes with the structural differences between European and North American bill formats. Those are complementary strengths, and the most common pattern we see is both running together.

Frequently asked questions

Does Nectar produce CSRD or ESRS reports directly?

No. Nectar produces the complete, validated, auditable utility dataset that CSRD reporting depends on, and exports it to the disclosure platform you use. If you need ESRS datapoint mapping and XBRL output, Dcycle or a comparable EU disclosure tool does that job and we integrate with it rather than replacing it.

Can Nectar and Dcycle run together?

Yes, and that is the arrangement we would recommend if you need both. Nectar handles collection, parsing, completeness, and provenance; the disclosure platform handles mapping and filing. Neither vendor does the other job well.

How does Nectar handle European utility bill formats?

European bills differ structurally from North American ones in tariff composition, tax treatment, and settlement conventions. Nectar parses line items in their native structure and preserves original currency and units before normalizing for reporting, rather than forcing a North American schema onto them.

We already have a carbon platform. What does adding Nectar change?

It changes what the platform is calculating from. Most carbon platforms accept whatever activity data you give them, including estimates and gaps, without distinguishing between them. Nectar makes the completeness and provenance of that input visible, which is the difference between a disclosure that survives assurance and one that does not.
