Finance and AP
Give finance and accounts payable teams validated utility bills, paid on time and coded to the general ledger. Nectar checks every charge before payment, holds bills with errors, and keeps budgets, forecasts, and accruals current.

Challenge
Utility bills are paid before anyone checks whether the charges are correct.
Solution
Nectar validates every bill against its history and the applicable tariff. Bills with errors or disputed charges are held rather than paid, with the reason shown on the bill.
Challenge
Late fees, interest, and shutoff notices pile up across hundreds of accounts.
Solution
Nectar pays US utility bills through regulated payment partners, flags late fees and interest charges, and forwards disconnection notices to site contacts within one business day.
Challenge
Utility spend is hard to budget, accrue, and code consistently.
Solution
Nectar codes each bill to your GL, cost center, site, and entity, provides monthly accrual estimates for bills not yet received, and tracks budget against actuals every month.
How Nectar works
1.Collect every bill
Bills arrive from utility portals, email, or mail, and Nectar flags any bill that is late or missing.
2.Validate every charge
Each bill is parsed at the line-item level and checked against its history and tariff before it is approved.
3.Route for approval
Approval rules route bills by site, utility, amount, or GL code. Routine bills clear automatically and larger bills go to an approver.
4.Pay or deliver to AP
Nectar pays US utility bills through regulated payment partners, or delivers each bill to your AP or ERP system as a coded payable.
5.Reconcile and report
A payment ledger, monthly reconciliation statement, accruals, and budget-to-actual reporting keep the close on schedule.
Before and after using Nectar
Bills validated before payment
Before Nectar, utility bills were paid as received. After, every charge is checked first, and bills with errors are held until they are resolved.
→ Utility bill paymentsLate fees and interest flagged
Before Nectar, late fees and interest charges were buried in line items. After, they are flagged on every bill so they can be disputed or avoided.
→ Late fees and tax trackingCoded payables in your AP system
Before Nectar, AP keyed utility bills by hand. After, each validated bill arrives in your AP or ERP system with its image, remittance details, due date, and GL coding.
→ Utility bill paymentsBudgets and accruals on schedule
Before Nectar, utility accruals were estimated from last month. After, budgets, forecasts, and accruals come from actual bill data for every site.
→ Budgeting and forecastsOne platform for every utility decision
